William Friedkin: Ends lawsuit against security firm
William Friedkin, the famous director of "The Exorcist" and his wife Sherry Lansing withdrew their lawsuit against a security firm over a 'break-in' at their Bel-Air home. Sherry Lansing is former Paramount Pictures chief.
Attorneys for William Friedkin and his wife petitioned on Wednesday for the case's dismissal.
The couple blamed Florida-based ADT for botching its response to the 2006 burglary at their home, saying an ADT patrolman took two hours to respond to an alarm at the house and meantime, burglars took "unique and irreplaceable jewelry".
Reasons for the dismissal of the case were not disclosed. A lawyer for William Friedkin refused to comment anything on the case and a lawyer for ADT did not return calls seeking comment.
William Friedkin won an Oscar for 1971's "The French Connection" and also received an Oscar nomination for "The Exorcist".
