Wesley Snipes: Seeks permission to leave country
Lawyers of actor Wesley Snipes have filed request in federal court seeking permission from a Florida judge so that this forty five year actor could leave the country. The permission is a necessity since he has to get involved in the editing process for Gallowwalker, his new horror film. After that he has to go Bangkok to shoot his action movie titled ‘Chasing the Dragon’. Cameras are all set to start from Sept. 8 and production is expected to last for 8 weeks.
According to the filing, the unavailability of Wesley Snipes could jeopardize his "future livelihood as an actor," not to mention his ability to pay compensation for his crimes.
At the same time, Wesley Snipes has made an appeal for his three federal tax convictions.
Although Wesley Snipes got acquitted from charges of conspiracy and sham he has been convicted in the month of February on three misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns on about 13.5 million dollars in earnings. He was sentenced in the month of April to 3 years of imprisonment. However last month a Florida judge begrudgingly has agreed to bail him thereby keeping Snipes a free man until his appeal has played out.
"Mr. Snipes will, of course, voluntarily return after his work on this film—as he has done each time he has been granted permission by this court." This has been stated by defense attorney Daniel Meachum on Wednesday's filing that was obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. |
