Alec Baldwin: Lends voice to homeless campaign
The actor and producer Alec Baldwin has lent his voice to support to critics of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's homelessness policies.
Alec Baldwin narrated a series of new public service announcements, released by the 'Coalition for the Homeless', a charity blasting Bloomberg's follow-through on a 2004 pledge to slash the number of homeless New Yorkers. The average age of a homeless person is 9 years old.
Over footage of people on city streets, Alec Baldwin recites statistics such as "over 40,000 New Yorkers will go to sleep homeless tonight". A Spokeswaman of coalition said that the spot will be telecasted on various TV networks.
The city Department of Homeless Services said that the number of homeless people on Manhattan streets and in shelters are shrinking, which the coalition disputes.
The 50 year old Alec Baldwin is an enthusiastic Democrat and often speaks out on political matters. His representatives didn't immediately respond phone calls on Wednesday. |
