Jon Voight has signed for the role of villain on the upcoming seventh season of the Fox drama "24". Chris Alexander, a spokesman for the show, said on Friday that though the season started in Jannuar, Voight will make his first appearance during a two-hour "prequel" episode in November.
Alexander told that the 69 year old Jon Voight's character will resurface in the second half of the regular season.
Voight said in a statement, "I am thrilled and excited about being invited to be part of my favorite show '24'. I'm hoping to bring my very best to it".
The actor's previous TV experience includes the classic Western "Gunsmoke", in which he appeared in several episodes during the 1960s.
Jon Voight, the father of Angelina Jolie, has won an Academy Award for best actor for the 1978 film "Coming Home". He has also been nominated three times for "Midnight Cowboy", "Runaway Train" and "Ali".
Jon Voight has recently reprised his role as Nicolas Cage's father in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets".
