 Aretha Franklin: Performs first at 2008 JVC Jazz fest
One more honor is awaited for the singing diva Aretha Franklin. With her performance the musical bonanza will began at the 2008 JVC Jazz festival.
Details about Aretha Franklin’s performance have been inferred from varied sources. According to the organizers of the festival this Grammy award winner will put her performance on 9 August. Fort Adams State Park has been selected as the venue for the performance.

Although Aretha has gained recognition for her ‘soul recordings’ she is also adept to other genres of music viz. jazz, rock, blues, pop, gospel, and even opera. She is highly praised for her fervent, soulful vocal style, which is aided by an immense and powerful vocal range.
Aretha Franklin is the second most honored female singer in the history of Grammy awards only after Alison Krauss. She has won twenty Grammy Awards including the Living Legend Grammy and the Lifetime Achievement Grammy. Between 1968 and 1975 Aretha Franklin has grabbed 8 consecutive awards. At that time the category of Best Female R&B Vocal Performance was nicknamed "The Aretha Award".
Aretha Franklin’s total seventeen top ten singles have been placed on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart. Two of them became No.1 hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 as well. Special mentioning may be made of the songs like “Respect" in the 1960s and also her duet with George Michael, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)". This duet song was released in 1980s. |
