 Paul McCartney: Adds ‘Dr’ to his title
Henceforth, just call him Dr. Paul.
On Monday, Yale University has awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree to Sir Paul McCartney.
The former Beatle is now a Doctor of Music.
The band played "Hey Jude" as the former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney accepted the degree at the university's graduation ceremony.
Yale President Richard Levinhe presented Sir Paul McCartney with his degree. In reference to one of Paul's Beatle songs, he said, "here, there and everywhere, you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics. We admire your musical genius and your generous support of worthy causes".
The legendary singer-songwriter became Sir Paul McCartney when he was knighted by the Queen of England in 1996.
Others who have conferred honorary degrees from the university include British astronomer Martin Rees, Argentine architect Cesar Pelli and American poet John Lawrence Ashbery. |
