 Bruce Lee: Martial arts icon becomes a subject of new Broadway musical
Bruce Lee, the legendary martial arts man, might have a future on Broadway.
This musical based theater on the life of marital arts actor Bruce Lee has been planned for Broadway in a couple of years.
Elephant Eye Theatrical announced on Tuesday that "Bruce Lee: Journey to the West" will be directed by Bartlett Sher, the artistic director of Seattle's Intiman Theatre who currently has a revival of "South Pacific" at the Lincoln Center Theatre.
Besides martial arts, the musical will feature Chinese opera and pop music as it traces Lee's journey to film stardom.
Cast is yet to be selected for the role of Lee. The character Lee died in 1973 at the age of 32.
Bruce Lee studied philosophy at the University of Washington and married in Seattle where he opened his first martial arts studio before starting his movie career. His son Brandon also became an actor and was accidentally shot to death in 1993 by a prop gun.
