 Katie Holmes: Heads to Broadway
The "Dawson's Creek" star and wife of Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes is looking forward to bounce back from a box-office flop with her Broadway debut.
Katie Holmes, who has most recently starred in "Mad Money" along with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah, will hit the stage with her performance in Arthur Miller's "All My Sons".
Other cast members of the production are John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson. Producer Eric Falkenstein said on Monday that the exact dates of the theater will be announced later.
The play, first seen on Broadway in 1947, was Miller's first Broadway hit. It concerns businessman Joe Keller, whose factory supplied defective cylinder parts to the military, resulting in the deaths of 21 pilots during World War II. Yet it was his business partner who went to jail for the mistake.
John Lithgow will perform the role of Joe Keller. Dianne Wiest will play Keller's wife. Patrick Wilson will play the role of Keller's idealistic son. Katie Holmes will portray the role of the son's fiancee and daughter of Keller's disgraced partner.
Katie Holmes made a brief appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" earlier this month when she welcomed Winfrey to the Telluride, Colo., home that she and Cruise share. She then left her husband to conduct a tour, which included a peek at daughter Suri's playrooms, the home's kitchen, Cruise's collection of bound film scripts, and stunning views of snow-topped mountains.
Simon McBurney will direct "All My Sons", which was revived on Broadway in 1987 and was last seen in New York 10 years later in a Roundabout Theatre Company production off-Broadway. |
