Ellen DeGeneres, a famous comedian, has rushed for engagement with her longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi. On Thursday quite dramatically DeGeneres has made declaration about their engagement during recording of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." In fact she has told all the audiences who were present at the studio that the California Supreme Court had struck down state laws against gay marriage.
"So I would like to say now, for the first time, I am announcing: I am getting married," added Ellen DeGeneres. The show will be aired on Friday.
Listening to the declaration, all the studio audiences made a long round of applause. Portia de Rossi who has been sitting amidst the audiences, also beamed and clapped.
Afterwards Ellen DeGeneres laughed and said, "Thank you. I'll tell you who the lucky guy is soon."
According to the court ruling the same-sex couples could get the sanction of getting married in less than a month. However, religious and social conformists has already sought to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in the month of November in order to discard the ruling of the Supreme Court and thus put a ban on gay marriage.
Earlier also fifty years old Ellen DeGeneres has boldly used the medium of television for creating a stand for gay rights.
In the year 1997, Ellen has portrayed her real life character on the ABC sitcom’s reel character "Ellen" thereby enabling the show for the first on prime-time network TV to have an open gay lead. The move drew applause from the gay civil rights organizations. However few of the religious groups have condemned the show.
A month before, Ellen DeGeneres has proclaimed that she is a lesbian. It got flashed in the cover of a famous magazine from United States.
Ellen DeGeneres along with her glamorous partner Portia de Rossi frequented all the gala events of Hollywood including prestigious the Academy Awards ceremonies. Previously, DeGeneres had a gay relationship with another actress called Anne Heche.
In the year 2005 while giving an interview to another famous US magazine the comedian said that she hoped that she and de Rossi would be "together the rest of our lives."
"I never would have thought my life would have turned out this way," "To have money. Or to have a gorgeous girlfriend. I just feel so lucky with everything in my life right now," added Ellen DeGeneres.

I think Ellen is so happy and content with her life right now, she deserves every bit of happiness life brings her! She is a beautiful strong, successful woman! It's about time they change the law there.
I don't appreciate the people who put her down because of her "life choice" I am a straight woman but I sincerely believe the two of them are happy and that should matter more. It doesn't, unfortunatly, right now but one day it will! And I can't wait for that day!
