 Yao Ming: Appeals for help for earthquake victims
Yao Ming, the famous sportsman, has shown his benevolence for all the hapless earthquake victims that struck in China. His words fell short while expressing his grief over the victims of the earthquake. Yao Ming along with his fellow athletes and sports teammates are working hard behind relief efforts.

"It is very hard putting into words how difficult it is to see this kind of destruction in Sichuan". "I am very saddened to hear of the large loss of life that has occurred. My thoughts are with everyone back in my home country of China during this very dark and emotional time," added Yao Ming.
"I call on more people all over the world to join our effort for the earthquake victims," Yao said.
Yao Ming is amongst a number of Chinese Olympians who have supported rescue efforts. Liu Xiang, the Olympic 110m hurdles’ champion, also is wholeheartedly taking part in the relief efforts.
In fact Liu and his manager Sun Haiping have made a contribution of 500,000 yuan on Wednesday during a donation drive that was being held by the Olympic teams of China. This has been informed by the media reporters.
Apart from Yao Ming and fellow sportsmen’s efforts, donations from the entire sports world are coming in leaps and bounds. It includes 980,000 yuan from the Chinese table tennis team and one million yuan from the gymnastics squad.
The State General Administration of Sport of China, which runs all sports teams, has contributed 5 million yuan. In addition ‘the International Olympic Committee’ has promised to pay 7 million as donation. Apart from this donations are coming from every possible corner of the world as well. |
