Sean Penn: Spearheads revolt at Cannes against France's smoking ban
Sean Penn, the renowned actor-cum-director of US, has led a small revolt at the Cannes film festival against the newly formed anti-smoking laws of France. According to a source the news has gained more hype since he is the head of the jury at the festival.
Information about Sean Penn’s news too can be gathered from reliable sources. To be specific after pulling out a cigarette Penn has puffed it during a press conference. Sean Penn only took a couple of haul before putting it aside. After that he got back to answer the queries of the reporters who were present in the press conference.
Following the footsteps of Sean Penn, another jury member Marjane Satrapi smilingly asked if anyone present would mind if she smoked "for medical reasons.”. Then she lit a cigarette along with Sean Penn and another French actress Jeanne Balibar. Marjane is an Iranian director.
The sources said that Penn has done it deliberately in defiance of laws that have put ban on smoking in any of public enclosed spaces. The laws were implemented since the month of January. Drama from Sean Penn’s side continued throughout the conference. When being asked by a reporter if he could confirm the fact that he has hesitated before taking the jury presidency as it would mean being "wise and sober" for twelve long days, Penn chuckled, "How many days have I got left?"
Regarding views on Bush's politics, Sean Penn said at the conference that the choice of the word "politics" was unfortunate. "It's just a shame that we have to bastardize the term 'politics' in attributing it to people like that, because politics, again, should really be an organization of helping each other," added Penn
Sean Penn is a regular at Cannes film fest, winning the best actor award for "She's So Lovely." He also displayed his own movies titled "The Pledge" and "The Indian Runner" at Cannes.
