Donnie Wahlberg: Appears in crime drama on cable network
Hollywood actor-singer Donnie Wahlberg and director-producer Jon Avnet have teamed up with cable network TNT to develop a crime drama. The story is about a young war hero turned Drug Enforcement Administration officer who works in his hometown, Boston.
Boston denizen Donnie Wahlberg might act in the 'tentatively titled' "Morse Code", which might be directed by Avnet. The former "Law & Order" writer-producer Walon Green has written "Morse Code".
TNT's top programmer Michael Wright has described the project as being in the vein of "The Departed," commingling law enforcement and organized crime.
Wright said, "Our original shows are character-based dramas that speak directly to the audience. The guy at the center of this is a relatable everyman kind of cop -- an honest, authentic character that our audience can connect with on a personal level".
Donnie Wahlberg and Avnet have worked together on "Boomtown" and the upcoming film "Righteous Kill".
Donnie Wahlberg also has reunited with his "New Kids on the Block" bandmates for a tour kicking off on Friday at NBC's "Today".
