Dalai Lama: Praises China for relief action after earthquake
On Tuesday the Dalai Lama has praised the concerned authorities of China for their prompt action in dealing with the devastating earthquake that has left myriads of people in hapless condition. Many of them have died; several people are either trapped or remained traceless.
The source said that China has mobilized over fifty thousand soldiers to accelerate the process of disaster relief.
The Dalai Lama also offered his condolences to the victims of the earthquake that has struck on Monday in the southwestern Sichuan province of China. On behalf of this Tibetan spiritual leader, a spokesman has announced it to the media. Presently Dalai Lama was in exile.
"We are full of sympathy for the families bereaved by this great tragedy and we admire the quick response of the Chinese authorities in deploying rescue teams at such short notice to bring out survivors from the rubble," adds Thubten Samphel, Dalai Lama’s spokesman.
Few other sources too have brought out news on the Dalai Lama’s reaction. An official from the Tibetan government-in-exile said that the Dalai Lama was expected to send a letter of condolence separately to President Hu Jintao.
China has repeatedly accused the Dalai Lama of wanting independence for his homeland, in remote west of Sichuan. He has also been accused of devising recent unrest situation in Tibet in a bid to capture a spotlight on the region before the Beijing Olympics.
Very recently the Dalai Lama also has put forth his wish of having an informal talk with Chinese officials in order to carry on discussion in the midst of international pressure over the crackdown of China on the turmoil.
Tibetans have claimed that they have risen up in protest against their six decades of repression of living under the Chinese rule.
The Dalai Lama who has grabbed Nobel Peace Prize in the year1989 has discarded all the claims of China. He has accused Beijing of spearheading the human rights’ violations against his people and also maintained his push for greater Tibetan autonomy under Chinese rule.
