Things are going in the positive direction in the adoption procedure of Madonna, the pop diva. On Monday the father of the Malawian child has declared about his consent of adopting the child by Madonna. He said that he supported the case and at the same time wanted ‘The Material Girl’ to bring his boy home for occasional visits.
The reporters came forth with details about the news on Madonna’s adoption. It is expected that Madonna is going to appear in a Malawian court on Thursday. On that day it is believed that there will be a final ruling on whether the pop star could at all adopt David Banda, the Malawian boy , or not. On Tuesday she will arrive in the Southern African country.
Madonna began adoption proceedings in the year 2006. Since then 2-year-old David has been living with her and her film director husband namely Guy Ritchie in their residence at London.
The adoption has aroused controversial since the critics accused the government of dodging all the laws that would put ban on non-residents from adopting children in Malawi.
However it is the government of Malawi that too has recommended its High Court of approving Madonna's child adoption.
While talking to a famous television channel Yohane Banda, the boy's father, said, "I have no problem with the government's recommendation to allow Madonna to get the child. This is what I wanted, that Madonna should keep the child."
One of Malawi's fiercest critics of Madonna's adoption bid, the Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC), said on Monday that it was no longer interested in pursuing the case. With this another great obstacle in the proceeding of Madonna has thus been removed.
"It will be as a waste of time and resources to continue pursuing the case. Malawi has more pressing issues than Madonna." This has been added by the chairman of HRCC namely Udule Mwakasungura.
After his father has placed him in an orphanage following his wife’s death Madonna took away David when he was thirteen months old.
Standing in a dusty village of huts, Banda said that he has hoped to see his son during the trip of Madonna.
If Madonna keeps David with him, the child will grow up in an elite world that is away away from Lipunga, where Banda's relatives eat staple food like maize meals that are cooked on open fires. This feeling of Banda too was revealed by a reliable source.
"If she comes with the child ... we expect to be told that the child is here and we are allowed to see him," added David’s father at Lipunga that is almost one hundred and sixty kms or 100 miles away from Malawi’s capital.
Although it is not possible for him to meet his son this time he has put forth his desire of seeing his son in the coming years.
"We had agreed initially that when the child is taken, she should bring him at least once in every three to four years so that we should see how he is developing," added the father.
