Zooey Deschanel: Returning back as guest star in 'The Simpsons'

Actress Zooey Deschanel has been confirmed to guest on two episodes of The Simpsons.

Deschanel will return to the Fox animated series during its 24th season as Mary Spuckler, the hillbilly daughter of Cletus that Bart nearly married in season 19.

While originally expected to only be appearing in a single episode, TVLine now reports that Deschanel will not only appear in The Simpsons' September 30 season premiere but will return for a special Valentine's Day episode entitled "Love Is A Many-Splintered Thing".

Reportedly, the episode will see Bart and Mary's relationship come under strain when he fails to pay enough attention to the couple's relationship.

The 'New Girl' actress was recently nominated for an Emmy nomination in the 'Lead Actress in a Comedy Series' category for her work on New Girl.

Deschanel has described the nomination as "an incredible life moment".
