Kelly Clarkson: Denies claims about judging 'American Idol'
Successful singer Kelly Clarkson has downplayed rumors that she will join the American Idol judging panel.
The entertainer was reportedly in consideration to fill one of the two judging openings which resulted from Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler's exits.
Kelly was asked if she would consider becoming an American Idol judge by Extra this week.
"I don't like the judging part of it. That's what I liked about Duets," Clarkson explained. "I got to actually mentor them and it was more fun. I don't think I'd be honest. I think I'd get home and be like, 'Did you see that, boy? He was bad!' I don't think I'd say that on TV because people would hate me!"
The first-ever American Idol winner, however, did praise American Idol's signing of Mariah Carey for a reported $17 million to judge the next season.
"I'm kind of super-proud that I'm from the show and Mariah Carey's going to be on it. Just because I'm a huge fan of hers," she said.
