David Beckham: Confirms to making small appearence in Olympics opening ceremony
Football star David Beckham has confirmed that he will make an appearance during Friday's Olympics opening ceremony.
Beckham told ITV News that he will have a "small part" in the showcase to launch the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The star said that he will have "some kind of role in the opening ceremony".
The sportsman added: "Being involved in the bid team that actually got the Olympics, I feel very proud of that.
"For it to all come to life now and to see the athletes start to arrive, it's exciting. I'm privileged to still be involved in this. [Lord Sebastian Coe's] kept me involved since then. I feel very honoured."
The LA Galaxy footballer has been rumoured to feature in the opening ceremony as part of a sporting parade of stars including Muhammad Ali.
Stuart Pearce, Team GB football coach, decided not to include David Beckham as one of the three players aged over-23 in the squad last month.
