 Katie Holmes: Uses Victoria Beckham as confidante for split with Tom Cruise
Actress Katie Holmes reportedly turned to Victoria Beckham as a confidante in the lead-up to deciding to end her marriage with Tom Cruise.
Katie filed for divorce from Cruise on June 29 after five years of marriage. They reached a settlement yesterday (July 9), and made an appeal for privacy in a joint statement.
Prior to seeking a divorce, Holmes had intimate discussions with Victoria about her marriage, Now magazine reports.
"Victoria's been a real tower of strength," a source said.
"Katie's seen how a normal marriage should function by being around Victoria and David Beckham, so she knew that something was wrong with her relationship with Tom.
"She and Victoria have been talking a lot. Posh has been trying not to take sides, but she has let Katie know she'll be there for her whatever she chooses to do."
Soon after the divorce settlement reached on July 10, Holmes's lawyer Jonathan Wolfe has denied claims that she has received primary physical custody of the couple's daughter Suri Cruise, adding: "There are numerous inaccuracies in the reports regarding the purported contents of the agreement reached between the parties."
