 Emma Stone: Got 'inspired' by Jennifer Lawrence to take Spider-Man role
Actress Emma Stone has revealed that she was inspired to play Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man by Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence.
The Easy A actress claimed that she was initially hesistant to sign up to a blockbuster franchise, before hearing Lawrence speak about similar concerns.
"I love Jennifer Lawrence and I watched a lot of her interviews for Hunger Games. It was kind of the same thing she was feeling'", Stone told Access Hollywood, referencing Lawrence's public trepidation over taking such a famous role.
"What scared me was the idea of, 'What could happen to my life after doing something like this?' But the part and the process outweighed that fear.
"It felt like a stupid reason to not be part of this - what might happen [and] how [my] life could change didn't feel like enough of a reason to not play Gwen, not to get to be involved with this and not to get to act with Andrew [Garfield] or to get to tell the story in a different way."
The 23-year-old has previously suggested that the prospect of working with British actor Garfield, who plays Peter Parker and Spider-Man, proved crucial in her decision to sign up as Gwen Stacy.
Emma also agreed to take part in The Amazing Spider-Man before her recent rise to stardom, explaining in the interview: "I auditioned [for Spider-Man] on the day that Easy A came out, and I was in the middle of shooting The Help, so it was a very different time period. It was the end of 2010, so it was very different than now."
