 Debra Messing: Files for divorce from estranged husband
Actress Debra Messing has officially filed divorce papers in court.
The actress met estranged husband Daniel Zelman when they were graduate students at New York University in 1990, marrying him ten years later on September 3, 2000.
In the filing, Messing cites irreconcilable differences, lodged at Los Angeles County Supreme Court today (Tuesday, June 5), reports TMZ.
The artist has also filed for joint custody of their 8-year-old son Roman Walker Zelman and requested spousal and child support.
These documents give the couple's date of separation as February 15, 2010, although it was revealed when news of their separation broke last winter that Messing and Zelman were still living together.
At the time, a spokesperson for Messing said: "In the short term they plan on continuing to live together with their son, then gradually transition into a new living situation."
The 'Smash' actress is represented by Neal Hersh, who has previously acted in family law cases for celebrities including Halle Berry, Kim Basinger and Denise Richards.
