Queen Elizabeth II: Knickers auctioned for $18k on eBay
The pair of underwear supposedly belonging to England's Queen Elizabeth II has been sold (pictured left).
The knickers, which were put up for sale on eBay earlier this month, were sold for $18,000 (£11,395), reports TMZ.
The estate of the late "Baron" Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi opened the auction, claiming that Dobronyi came upon the underwear in 1968 after it was left on a private plane in Chile.
The knickers are embroidered with the letter 'E' and have an image of the crown on them. Buckingham Palace has not confirmed whether the item is authentic.
Total of 18 bids were made on the undergarments. The identity of the winning bidder is still unknown.
The British head of state is gearing up to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee later in the year.
