Janet Carroll: 'Risky Business' actress passes away at 71
Actress Janet Carroll has died, aged 71.
The artist was perhaps most famous for playing Tom Cruise's mother in teen drama Risky Business in 1983.
Carroll reportedly passed away in New York after a long illness.
The veteran actress role in Risky Business led her onto many other movie projects, including Memories of Me, Talent for the Game, Enough and Forces of Nature.
The talented artist also had a successful career in television, with recurring roles in Married with Children and Melrose Place among others.
Carroll also guested in the likes of Hill Street Blues, Cagney and Lacey, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Ally McBeal and The Golden Girls.
Although, she started her career in theatre shortly after leaving high school, including roles in productions of Guys and Dolls, South Pacific and Carousel.
Janet Carroll is survived by her son George and her daughter-in-law Lauren.
