Barack Obama: Teases David Beckham over underwear range, age
Hot soccer star David Beckham has met US President Barack Obama at the White House (pictured at the left, check out the videos below).
The 37-year-old was joined by his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates to celebrate their MLS Cup win with the President.
When describing the footballer as a "young up-and-comer", Obama prompted laughter from Beckham's fellow players.
Obama said: "I have to say I gave David Beckham a hard time, and told him half the team could be his kids. We're getting old, David.''
The US President also joked that Beckham was "a rare man who can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear".
The President also teased Beckham's teammate Robbie Keane, hinting to his own Irish heritage by calling him "a cousin of mine".
Mr. President said: "His teammates were so happy to have him that they filled his locker with what they called the 'pleasures of Ireland' - Guinness, Bailey's and Irish Spring. Hopefully Robbie has broadened their horizons a little bit since then."
Obama was then handed his own Los Angeles Galaxy shirt, before Beckham led a football coaching session on the White House lawn.
Obama has seen support from the likes of Jay-Z and Will Smith regarding his recent declaration of support for gay marriage.
