George Clooney, Julia Roberts: Join hands to sue companies over property rights
Celebrated Hollywood stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts have joined forces to sue two audio-visual companies.
Clooney and Roberts have claimed that Digital Projection, Inc. and Beyond Audio have used their likeness and trademarks to sell their projectors and entertainment systems, says The Hollywood Reporter.
"Defendants prominently used large photographs of Plaintiffs in Defendants' advertising, marketing and promotions including print advertisements published in numerous magazines over the past several months," the suit reads.
"Accordingly, Defendants are liable to Plaintiffs for the infringement of their publicity rights, privacy rights, and trademark rights."
As the complaint states, photos of the pair were used on the companies' website homepages, along with brochures, newsletters and email alerts.
The Hollywood pair are seeking unspecified compensatory damages, along with "treble damages, punitive damages, attorneys' fees and an injunction against further use of their names or images".
