Jessica Simpson: Gives birth to daughter, names Maxwell Drew Johnson
Singer Jessica Simpson has given birth to her and fiancé Eric Johnson's first child.
The artist welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson in Los Angeles this morning (May 1), according to a post on her website.
As a statement from Simpson reads: "Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson. We are so grateful for the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives."
The 'With You' popstar is believed to be resting comfortably with baby Maxwell, who apparently weighs 9 lbs, 13 ounces.
The star was first reported to have checked into an LA hospital earlier today, sparking rumors that she had gone into labor.
The talented performer announced her pregnancy in October 2011 by posting a Halloween-themed picture of herself dressed as a mummy.
"It's true I'm going to be a mummy," Simpson wrote in a caption accompanying the image.
Jessica was forced to deny rumors that she'd given birth last week by telling fans in a Twitter post: "Don't believe what you read ladies and gents!"
