David Furnish: Confirms decision to adopt second child with Elton John
Canadian and British filmmaker David Furnish has confirmed that he and husband Sir Elton John would like a second child.
Married in 2005, the couple became parents to son Zachary Furnish-John via a surrogate on Christmas Day 2010. Furnish has now confirmed that he and his partner constantly talk about welcoming a sibling for Zachary to the family.
David told the London Evening Standard: "I would like Zachary to have a sibling. I think he would be better with a sibling than on his own. It's something we talk about all the time. But in terms of when, where and how, nothing's decided yet.
"I think we are going to wait till this summer. Our life is always like a treadmill with Elton constantly working and touring. But when we go away to our house in France, that's when we sit back and go, 'Okay, how is this working, how are you feeling?'"
Last month, it was first reported that, John and Furnish were planning for a second child and they were said to be "loving every minute" of parenthood.
The advertising executive continued: "We could go back to the same egg donor, so biologically there would certainly be a connection between brother and brother or brother and sister."
Although, he stressed that the unnamed surrogate who gave birth to Zachary has her own family and recognized that surrogacy is "a big commitment to make" with an impact on other family members.
David Furnish added that both he and John would be likely to be sperm donors "so we don't know which one of us is the father".
Previously, John has confirmed that the couple are unsure who is Zachary's biological father, as both donated sperm samples to the surrogate mother.
