 Lindsay Lohan: Confirmed to star as Elizabeth Taylor in biopic 'Liz & Dick'
Actress Lindsay Lohan has been confirmed to play Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming television biopic 'Liz & Dick'.
On Monday, Lifetime announced the news of Lohan's casting with production on the biopic scheduled to begin in June in Los Angeles.
This new movie will be based on Taylor's love affair with actor Richard Burton, who the actress married and divorced twice after they met on the set of Cleopatra.
Rob Sharenow, Lifetime's executive vice president of programming, has said: "We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon."
LiLo, who was first speculated to play the Hollywood icon in January, also expressed excitement at portraying Taylor on the small screen.
"I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor," she said in a statement. "She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role."
Previously, Lohan was said to be taking her new role very seriously, even watching old Taylor movies, reading about her life and watching interviews of the late actress.
