 Vanessa Williams: Discloses high school abortion in memoir
Actress Vanessa Williams has revealed that she had an abortion as a teenager.
Williams speaks candidly about her decision in new memoir 'You Have No Idea'.
The artist says that she kept the incident from her mother Helen Williams, with whom she wrote the memoir, for many years after getting the abortion during high school.
In an interview with Nightline, Williams said: "Being pregnant is the most frightening thing that happens in your life. I knew in high school that [was] something that I was not prepared to do or fight or struggle with."
The Ugly Betty star also revealed in the memoir that she experienced sexual abuse at the age of ten from a family friend.
The 49-year-old actress has three children from her first marriage to ex-manager Ramon Harvey II and one with ex-husband Rick Fox.
