Clive Davis: Gets replaced by Barry Weiss
Clive Davis, the legendary music producer, has been substituted by Barry Weiss as chairperson and CEO of BMG label group, a leading name in music industry.
The announcement came on Thursday from parent company Sony BMG.
It has also been mentioned that Clive Davis, the music mogul, will act as Chief Creative Officer of Sony BMG Worldwide thereby continuing to work diligently with top shot artists.
Roles of Barry Weiss and others also have been duly mentioned. As per the source, Barry, as head of BMG, will look after several areas like RCA Records, Arista, Jive, J Records, Volcano, LaFace, Verity, GospoCentric and Fo Yo Soul.
However both Weiss and Clive Davis declined to say anything in front of media. Thus when contacted both the spokespersons of Weiss and Davis remained unapproachable.
Clive Davis’ association with BMG is pretty long. After successfully starting J Records and Arista Records he came to BMG’s label group. Moreover Clive also headed ‘Columbia Records’.
Clive Davis has more laurels to be added to his careergraph. He shouldered the credit of successfully initiating careers of eminent personalities like Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin and Bruce Springsteen, and also breathed new life to brilliant acts of people like Rod Stewart and Santana.
Moreover, Clive Davis also played a prominent role by influencing winners of "American Idol”. In fact he guided them in bringing out their albums that had, later, dominated the box-office. |
