Whitney Houston: Funeral to be protested by Westboro Church for "stealing God's glory"
As as been announced by the Westboro Baptist Church, they will protest Whitney Houston's funeral.
A spokesperson for the church, Margie Phelps, made the announcement on Twitter.
Phelps wrote in the message: "Yay! 2 pickets in NJ-Whitney Houston funeral & [gay marriage bill legislature]." Phelps cites the reasoning behind the scheduled protest as being retribution for Houston "stealing God's glory".
This church has also made plans to release a single titled 'God Will Always Hate You, Whitney'.
However, this is not the first instance of The Westboro Baptist Church holding a public protest. In the past they have picketed Elizabeth Taylor's funeral, Kevin Smith's movie Red State, and the Golden Globes.
Legend Whitney Houston died last week at the age of 48. A toxicology report is pending.
Whitney's funeral is to be held on February 18 at noon in New Jersey. Guests will include Kevin Costner, Clive Davis, Ray J and Alicia Keys. The proceedings will be broadcast on certain TV stations and streamed on the internet.
