 Elton John: Raises $2.5M for Hillary Clinton
Adding more buzz to the presidential bid of Hillary Clinton , Elton John, the singing legend, lend his helping hand for raising $2.5 million thereby filling up her ‘campaign coffers’ to a great extent.
To be specific, Elton John has performed in a beneficial concert for Hillary Clinton at Radio City Music Hall.
Before singing hit songs of 1970 viz. "Your Song" and "Border Song," John came out with an announcement. He said “I've always been a Hillary supporter.” "There is no one more qualified to lead America."
Out of emotional fit, Elton John further commented, “I'm amazed by the misogynistic attitudes of some of the people in this country. And I say to hell with them .... I love you Hillary, I'll be there for you."
Pointing to the success of the John’s program all the campaign associates has thrown light to some vital aspects. The cheapest tickets, $125 and $250 were sold immediately. So far as the other seats are concerned, John’s fans paid as much as $2,300, the limit for an individual's donation to a federal candidate.
Bill Clinton, ex President and also Hillary’s hubby, along with their daughter Chelsea preceded Elton John on stage.
Down the years the Clintons have shared a good rapport with Hollywood and also eminent personalities from music industry. In fact in the year 1998, Elton John himself gave a performance at a State Dinner at White House. The host, the Clinton couple, cordially entertained their hi-profile guest Tony Blair, the then British Prime Minister. |
