Friday 13, January 2012
Veteran star Betty White has been given a standing ovation at the 2012 People's Choice Awards.
The glamorous artist took to the stage with her 'Hot in Cleveland' co-stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick to accept the show's award for 'Favourite Cable TV Comedy'.
Then Jane pointed out that White will turn 90 next week, and asked the audience to wish her a happy birthday. The crowd got to its feet and applauded.
"Thank you with all my heart, but you don't really accomplish anything," a moved White told the audience. "90 just happens. I didn't do anything!"
In spite of her humble words, the audience continued clapping.
The evergreen talent will celebrate her 90th birthday on January 17, and a television special will air in her honour next Monday (January 16) on NBC.
Last year December, the actress said she was too busy to retire, insisting that she is having fun working.
