query.nytimes.com - : New York Times : Now more than ever, the country needs SpongeBob SquarePants, and starting today, in theaters everywhere, he answers the call, with a big-screen rendition of the nautical nonsense that has been delighting Nickelodeon viewers -- including a great many grown-ups without the alibi of children -- for the past five years.   more...  A-
www.nypost.com - : New York Post : The story line opens with our squeaky-voiced hero thinking he's going to be named the manager of a second Krusty Krab restaurant being opened by his boss, Mr. Krabs. The childish SpongeBob loses the gig to the upright Squidward - and passes the day drowning his sorrows in ice cream sundaes with his dimwitted sidekick, Patrick Star.  more...  B
www.hollywoodreporter.com - : Hollywood Reporter : While other cartoons have taken the plunge with mixed results, creator/director/co-screenwriter Stephen Hillenburg has been careful not to draw his lovably goofy protagonist too far out of his depths.  more...  A
