www.eonline.com - : Did Samuel L. Jackson have to reroof his house or something? Why else would he breeze through this piece of junk? To simply cash a paycheck? How else can one explain The Man, a police-buddy comedy retread and a horrible one at that. Jackson is a nasty Detroit detective who's about to bust a gang of gunrunners when Wisconsin dentist Eugene Levy, in town for a convention, stumbles upon the sting operation. Levy is mistaken for the arms buyer, and, well, you can guess what happens next. Levy, always funny in everything, is totally squashed by the pure lameness of this. The jokes between Jackson and Levy are downright criminal, and the eventual bonding is so predictable even Levy could see it coming without his coke-bottle glasses. The only good thing here is that the movie is a merciful 83 minutes. Man, this sucks. more...
