Overview :Master explorer Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) takes on the adventure of his life when he embarks on a treasure hunt through some of the most dangerous regions of North Africa. Searching for what locals call ''The Ship of Death'', a long lost Civil War battleship filled with coins, Pitt and his wisecracking sidekick (Steve Zahn) use their wits and clever heroics to help Doctor Eva Rojas (Penelope Cruz) who believes the ship may be linked to mysterious deaths in the very same area.

Is it summer yet? It certainly feels like it while watching Sahara, a big, dumb action film just like National Treasure but with less of that durned thinkin'. Matthew McConaughey plays a treasure hunter/good ol' boy type who uncovers a disease that's infecting the people of Africa. There's a goofy sidekick (a funny enough Steve Zahn), a love interest (the sexy enough Penélope Cruz) and a missing ship filled with gold. Things blow up, one-liners are delivered, and the obvious bad guys get theirs in the end. Yeah, you've heard it all before, but it holds up. A couple of action scenes are a little less thrilling than promised, but McConaughey's cowboy strut can sell the snake oil he's peddling.
