www.eonline.com - : The X-Men's Famke Janssen has lost her ability to read minds--especially men's--when the magazine writer takes a look at her failed relationships while trying to stick with on-again, off-again artist boyfriend Jon Favreau. She writes about death and blow jobs, and he paints twisted pics of entrails and torture. He calls her ''horse-face,'' she criticizes his ''oversized head.'' And it's endearing, really, as the two engage in the tricky art of Love & Sex. Some loosely-stitched flashbacks of Janssen's love life almost lose the audience early on, but what director Valerie Breiman lacks in structural know-how, she makes up for with refreshing dialogue and the smart casting of two likable leads. It ain't exactly an Annie Hall for the hipster set (though it tries), but it's still a simple, pleasing romantic comedy with a sharp tongue and a soft heart. more...
