www.qwipster.net - : Take this review for what it's worth as I had to stop watching after 35 minutes because the monotony was literally putting me to sleep. What I did see was excruciatingly bad, with no plot or story to get into, just one long bad acid trip. Maybe that's the point, but as a film it just was neither entertaining nor interesting in the least.  more...  1/5
www.apolloguide.com - : Terry Gilliam tries his best to show what it is like to be on a weeklong acid-ether-mescaline-cocaine-tequila bender. By dwelling on the more prurient aspects of the novel, Gilliam debases its value as a social document. He also destroys most of the humour, which is found not just in the protagonists' drug-addled frenzies, but also in his commentary on the surreal world of Las Vegas (and the grand illusion that is the American Dream).   more...  27/1
www.toxicuniverse.com - : Maybe it's one of those movies that depends on being seen under the right circumstances—but it's more accurate to say it's a movie that soaks into your bloodstream. You've got to go with it, or you're lost. At Gilliam's breakneck pace, it allows few opportunities to catch up.  more...  5/5
