www.reel.com - : A follow-up in spirit, if not in actual content, to his excellent debut feature, L.I.E., Michael Cuesta's 12 and Holding is another distinct and memorable look at suburban adolescence from the gifted filmmaker. This time out, three 12-year-old friends come of age after local bullies accidentally murder one of the kids' twin brothers. The trio consists of the surviving twin, Jacob, a shy, guilt-ridden boy with a disturbing birthmark; the precocious, prickly Malee (Zoe Weizenbaum); and the hefty, but determined Leonard (Jesse Camacho). Each of them has their own inner demons, which they privately work through in startling and surprisingly resourceful ways. more...

A tragic occurrence forces three 12-year olds (hence the title) to make the leap, perhaps prematurely, out of childhood. more...
