www.eonline.com - : Although spotty at times, this canine caper remains a crowd pleaser for the most accepting viewers. The Clockwork Orange-for-kids plot opens when Cruella De Vil (Glenn Close) is released from prison after Dr. Pavlov takes the cruel out of Cruella. Her parole officer, a bouncy blond ingenue, is skeptical of Cruella's reform. And she should be, because when the behavior-modification spell is broken, her dogs become the object of Cruella's renewed Dalmatian-fur-coat quest. Though Close is, at times, deliciously outrageous, this sequel sorely misses John Hughes' writing and lacks the timing and sure-handed Home Alone-style gags of its predecessor. Most of the tricks--usually coming from random adorable dog stunts and Eric Idle as the voice of a talking parrot--are too easily handed over to the little ones. But it's the too-cute Oddball (the Dalmatian without spots) that parents will remember--'cause that's the plush toy the kids will be begging for once the lights come on. more...
