Overall, "Charlie Wilson's War" is certainly one that I recommend. Mike Nichols accomplished another good one. Also starring Julia Roberts, Amy Adams and Om Puri. | | | | Reply | | | pooch says @ Friday - January 04,2008
Under the skillful direction of Mike Nichols and a smart, snappy screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, Charlie Wilson's War is a sparkling, sophisticated satire that chronicles the behind the scene machinations of three colorful characters comprising "Charlie's Team." | | | | Reply | | | balletgirl692 says @ Friday - January 04,2008
I enjoyed this movie. It flowed along nicely from start to finish. Hoffman and hanks are marvellous, with Robert's scary appearance overshadowing her performance. | | | | Reply | | | lgaudino says @ Friday - January 04,2008
This movie is based on the true story of how Charlie Wilson persuaded the CIA to train and arm resistance fighters in Afghanistan to fend off the Soviet Union. | | | | Reply | | | erndawgjr says @ Wednesday - January 02,2008
It's certainly based on an interesting true story with a very interesting central character. Unfortunately, the screenplay is extremely dull and reality did not come close to matching the hype. I would not recommend. | | | | Reply | | | Kristin-Grill says @ Wednesday - January 02,2008
This movie had no redeeming qualities. One of the most annoying things was the fake deep south accents coming from Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. | | | | Reply | | | muehlbacher77 says @ Wednesday - January 02,2008
During the course of Charlie Wilson's War, the main characters travel from the United States to Pakistan to Afghanistan to Jerusalem to Egypt, but wherever they go, sarcasm always follows. There's a surprising amount of comedy in the film, considering the political undertones are generally serious. | | | | Reply | | | ivet_ballet says @ Wednesday - January 02,2008
Charlie Wilson's War is one of the best non Musician Bio-pics in a long while as well as being that rare thing a film that entertains, amuses as well as informs all in equal measure. | | | | Reply | | | lgly_blnde says @ Saturday - December 29,2007
The movie is extremely politically relevant. If you do not follow politics, foreign affairs, you will not get a lot of the funny lines. Hanks was really good, but Hoffman stole the show. | | | | Reply | | | kncollections says @ Saturday - December 29,2007
One of this year's top 3 movies. First the story is entertaining. Secondly, the all-star cast has an unbelievably powerful and convincing character development. | | | | Reply | | | cheesyalexy says @ Saturday - December 29,2007
Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were both good in their roles. This movie has exactly what has been lacking in hollywood movies involving politics for a long time. It was extremely entertaining and witty. | | | | Reply | | |
