  Critic Reviews  Grade
www.jigsawlounge.co.uk - : Breezily enjoyable, refreshingly optimistic version of what is known in Britain as 'town vs gown', the conflict between well-heeled university students and the young working-class locals whose noses they so often put out of joint.  more...  7/10
www.epinions.com - : ''Breaking Away'' was a sleeper, a low-budget film with an (then) unfamiliar cast that was released to critical and commercial success. The film has many themes and subplots, but they never get tangled or complex. Some of the drama (especially in the closing race) is a bit contrived, but most of it works, as does most of the comic relief.  more...  77/1
www.apolloguide.com - : It’s always refreshing to see a film about teens that was created with respect for its characters. Not only does Breaking Away succeed as a touching coming-of-age tale, but it also manages to transcend its genre. Those looking for a movie about restless young adults that doesn’t focus solely on rampant raunchiness and insipid sex jokes should most definitely search this one out.  more...  86/1
