www.movieeye.com - : In ''Big Jake,'' actor John Wayne gets to do something I imagine a great many fathers would like to do as well: punch his son in the face. Wayne stars as Jake McCandles, also known as Big Jake, a rough and gruff frontiersman who, in the face of early technological development in the 1900's, refuses to conform to the new wave. Thought to be dead by his friends and enemies, he returns from the countryside when he finds out that his grandson (played by John Ethan Wayne) has been kidnapped. Enlisting the help of his two sons (one of whom is Wayne's other son, Patrick), he rides off on his horse in pursuit of the kidnappers, while the law trails behind in automobiles. more...
