Overwiew :An ensemble comedy about five guys, all in their twenties, all coping with the mysteries of life and women, and is set in the back streets and sometimes hidden clubs of Hollywood. It's a story told in the language of the cocktail nation, a growing twentysomething retro-Swing dance movement that's taken Hollywood by storm and is beginning to sweep the nation. Mike is down in the dumps because he left his girlfriend behind in New York when he came to Hollywood to seek his acting fortune. Instead, he's found loneliness and the blues. Now, after six months of dealing with Mike, his buddy Trent and the other swingers have had enough. It's time to bring Mike back to life. |

www.reelingreviews.com - : ''Swingers'' was written by and stars Jon Favreau as Mike, a New Yorker who's come to LA to make it as a comic and actor. What he actually does, however, is mope about his pathetic apartment bemoaning the loss of his girl friend. His buddies Trent, Sue, Rob and Charles think it's time for Mike to forget the past and move forward out into the LA retro cocktail lounge scene. Mike, they say, looks ''money'' and can get the ''digits'' of the babies who cruise the clubs. more...

It's cute, and it might've worked if they hadn't said it, oh, 8500 times during the movie. The film equivelant of your parents saying, ''Word up, homeboy!'' to you for an entire week. more...

movie-reviews.colossus.net - : Swingers is the latest independent film success story. Shot for approximately $250,000, the movie became the object of a bidding war. Miramax eventually secured the distribution rights, but only after agreeing to pay $5 million. Director Doug Liman (who previously made a 1994 movie called Getting In), producer Victor Simpkins, and writer/actor Jon Favreau were suddenly a lot more wealthy than they had ever expected to be. more...
