www.boxoffice.com - : The classic Jet Li film ''Black Mask'' remains a Hong Kong favorite, though most Americans have never seen it in its proper form, subjected instead to a horrendous American dubbed version that removed the dazzling original score and replaced it with inappropriate contemporary music. The film's sequel, which replaces Li with respectable newcomer Andy On, is less interested in pleasing Hong Kong audiences than American audiences, which makes it an odd and strangely unsatisfactory sequel, though on its own merits its not a bad piece of filmmaking. more...

With genius Hong Kong director Tsui Hark and equally brilliant fight choreographer Yuen Wo Ping (of Matrix fame) at the helm, you’d expect something watchable, but in this case, a lame story wrapped in rudimentary CGI effects goes nowhere, despite some high-flying fights that add a few pulses of excitement. more...
