www.movieeye.com - : A black comedy with elements of romance and action, ''The Black Marble'' is a film with parts that don't quite work together as a whole. The script, adapted by Joseph Wambaugh from his own novel, involves the working relationship between homicide detective A.M. Valnikov (Robert Foxworth), a hard drinker with a troubled mind, and divorcee Natalie Zimmerman (Paula Prentiss), who reluctantly becomes his partner and later, his lover when she realizes he's not entirely burnt out. They just happen to be working on a case involving the kidnapping of a prize dog from one Ms. Whitfield (Barbara Babcock), who must come up with the ransom money for the thief, a veterinarian (Harry Dean Stanton) with outstanding debts. more...
