www.channel4.com - : Released in UK cinemas over two years after it was made, this is a small but strangely effective World War II drama which, without the budget for the sort of effects which made Saving Private Ryan so memorable, relies on characterisation more than anything. Bill Campbell and Angus MacFadyen are the Canadian and German pilots who form an uneasy alliance while being interned in the same camp in neutral Dublin, and eventually end up staging a war of their own over local lass Mattie (Jean Butler). The dramatic tension doesn't always convince, but the relationship between the leads, friends despite technically being enemies, is always watchable. more...
