www.eonline.com - : You've got to hand it to writer-director John Forte for at least trying to cover his bases. His debut film hits on three celluloid trends: dance movies, sports movies and Irish coming-of-age folk tales. If you can handle it, think of it as Rudy meets Circle of Friends meets Lambada: The Forbidden Dance. A pre-haircut Keri Russell--with a poor excuse for a Belfast accent--is the object of our Danny Boy hero's affection. William Ash is from the wrong side of the tracks and has one goal in life--to be a pro soccer player. To fine-tune his fancy feet, he takes up samba and tries to score with hoity-toity hottie Russell, who despises his lower-class status but finds herself strangely attracted to him. It's a sweet, funny story, and the choreography is mildly interesting, but we've seen this dance before. more...
