www.boxoffice.com - : Refreshingly devoid of the empty violence infecting so many American independent movies today, ''Seven and a Match'' is a deeply flawed film that at least tries to examine the problems and concerns of today's confused twentysomething generation. When Ellie (Tina Holmes), facing the loss of her late parents' beloved home, decides to invite a few old pals to visit her there for Thanksgiving, she doesn't expect to change her life. But that's exactly what happens when the assorted friends and lovers get together for the holiday. Likably low key, ''Seven and a Match'' cuts a nice slice of life out of its story, with characters one can relate to. Much of the movie is choppily constructed and badly framed, but it's also quite moving. The performances are uneven but Heather Donahue (''The Blair Witch Project'') as a self-absorbed fashion editor and Eion Bailey as an actor who tries to use his good looks to coast through life stand out. more...
