www.eonline.com - : Best known as the video director who got jiggy with Will Smith, Williams assembles an A-list of rappers (if not, unfortunately, actors) for his feature-length debut. The sputtering plot follows aspiring Tommy (DMX) and his buddy Sincere (Naz) as they rise through the ranks of the gangster world the old-fashioned way--by dealing drugs, shaking people down and killing anyone who gets in their way. That's pretty much the path of the flick until our trigger-happy duo see the light, after which the unsympathetic crimefest turns into a sermonizing moral lesson. As a visual stylist, Williams shows mastery and his heart seems to be in the right place, but the script also revels in the same sort of stereotypes it seeks to condemn. more...

Tommy, the more aggressive of the two, wants a bigger payoff, so they segue into selling drugs. After a confrontation with his wife (Tionne ''T-Boz'' Watkins), Sincere wants out. But Tommy is in too deep; before he knows it, bodies start to pile up and he goes on the run.
