www.channel4.com - : al screen collaboration of Martin and Lewis was in this splendidly enjoyable musical comedy, which, like many of its peers, fills out its slender story with songs and general stupidity. Lewis is the cinema-lover who will go to any lengths to meet his favourite star (Ekberg), even if it involves driving cross-country to Tinsel Town - which in this case it does. Martin joins him, although a Las Vegas stopover brings with it an ulterior motive for his presence on the trip - and the party is completed when they pick up both Great Dane Mr. Bascomb and glaringly obvious love interest Crowley. Even though the film suffered from some on-set animosity - which apparently included director Tashlin ordering Lewis off the set when his behaviour became too intolerable to take - it hasn't had any noticeable effect on the finished product, which is about as much fun as you could hope for. more...
